In this role with the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), you will work on projects related to inventorying, issuance, and maintaining detailed records of communication equipment, parts, and infrastructure. Conducting and using field-based data collection methods and technology and various databases to maintain inventories, track and manage life-cycle equipment data, establish equipment hierarchies, and monitor critical FCC frequency license renewals in support of the Emergency Management Communications division. Working in this role will ensure the logistics and equipment standards of our Public Safety Communications infrastructure for the safety of the Pierce County communities.

How to be Successful in the Role
Emergency Management has a strong onboarding program to ensure employees have received department information, points of contact, and resources such as computers, phones, and other devices. In addition, the management team will work directly with the supervisors to provide opportunities for information sharing and regular feedback. The employee will also be eligible to attend FEMA-approved training courses. Your success will come from the timely inventory of communications equipment, expanding your knowledge limits, and being collaborative with effective communication. Attention to detail, being organized, and being punctual will further your success.

Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Supervisors, teams, and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures. Core Daily Responsibilities
- Utilize databases, inventory technologies, GIS software and other technologies to catalog and account for all department assigned communications equipment, and infrastructure: towers, microwave dishes, buildings, two-way radios, HVAC systems, generators and other equipment.
- Conduct annual inventory of all department communications equipment and infrastructure assets' ensuring equipment is tracked based on the type of asset, location, condition and lifecycle.
- Collect field data of various kinds related to the management of communications assets.
- Conduct annual field assessments of all communications equipment and infrastructure.
- Travel to work sites around the Pierce County region including remote work locations to assess equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.

- Three (3) years experience using enterprise asset management (EAM) systems or other asset data collection systems used for asset control, and lifecycle management; along with demonstrated knowledge and experience with radio communication equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications supporting asset control, lifecycle and documentation.
