You’ll join a fast-moving, collaborative product engineering team that brings together backend and front-end engineers, AI researchers, product managers, and designers. The team owns key areas of Agent Resilience, including observability, AI metrics, tokenomics, budgeting and alerting, and runtime agent control. Your Impact As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Agent Resilience Team within Galileo, you will build scalable backend services that power agent observability, metrics, token usage, and other AI resilience capabilities. You’ll work primarily in Python and Go and collaborate across engineering and AI teams to build reliable, high-throughput products for enterprise environments. Design, develop, and scale backend services and APIs supporting Agent Resilience products, including observability, metrics, tokenomics, and agent-related capabilities. Build high-throughput applications designed to handle large volumes of users, requests, and data while improving system scalability, reliability, and performance. Develop primarily in Python, with additional development in Go, and write automated tests using tools such as pytest or similar frameworks. Work with technologies such as databases, Kafka or similar streaming systems, and data platforms to consume and process data required by customer-facing product capabilities. Collaborate with front-end engineers, AI researchers, product managers, and other engineering teams to translate complex AI and observability capabilities into scalable enterprise products. Success in this role means consistently delivering reliable, scalable backend functionality, improving application performance as usage grows, and collaborating effectively across the team to bring Agent Resilience capabilities to enterprise customers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years of related experience, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of experience developing production backend applications and services using Python and/or Go, with strong proficiency in Python. Experience designing, building, and scaling applications or services that support high traffic, high throughput, large data volumes, or significant numbers of users. Experience building backend services and APIs and working with databases, distributed application components, or data-intensive systems. Experience writing automated tests for backend applications using frameworks such as pytest or comparable testing tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing products or applications involving AI/ML, generative AI, large language models, AI agents, or agentic applications. Experience working with Kafka or similar streaming technologies and consuming data from streaming or event-driven systems. Experience with analytical or high-scale databases such as ClickHouse or similar technologies. Experience building products in observability, monitoring, analytics, or other data-intensive application domains. Experience improving the scalability, reliability, and performance of backend applications operating at significant production scale. Why Cisco? Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
