Head Coach, Men's and Women's Golf

Head Coach for Men's and Women's Golf – Wingate University Position Summary The Head Coach will provide visionary leadership for both men's and women's golf programs, ensuring competitive success, academic excellence, and adherence to NCAA regulations. Primary Responsibilities Program Leadership – Establish a culture of excellence, develop strategic plans, promote sportsmanship, and ensure student-athlete welfare. Coaching and Student-Athlete Development – Conduct practices, competitions, and training; implement improvement plans; utilize analytics; mentor athletes academically and personally. Recruiting – Evaluate and recruit prospective athletes; execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy; maintain relationships with high school, junior college, international, and club coaches; manage recruiting budgets; comply with NCAA regulations. Academic Excellence – Monitor student‑athlete academic progress; collaborate with academic support services; encourage honors and recognition opportunities; maintain a strong overall GPA. Administration – Prepare and manage annual budgets; coordinate team travel, scheduling, equipment purchases, and operational planning; maintain accurate records and reports; ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies. Fundraising & External Relations – Support Bulldog Club and Athletics Department fundraising; cultivate relationships with alumni, parents, donors, and community supporters; represent the golf programs at university and community events. Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure program compliance in recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, and playing/practice seasons; promote student‑athlete health, safety, and well‑being; collaborate with Sports Medicine, Performance, Compliance, and Student Affairs staff. Community Engagement – Encourage meaningful community service participation; serve as a positive ambassador for Wingate University; build relationships with local golf courses, professionals, and stakeholders. Staff Management – Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and volunteer coaches; conduct regular staff evaluations and professional development; foster a collaborative and positive working environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; master's degree preferred. Previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience. Demonstrated success in recruiting and student‑athlete development. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively within a team environment. Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively. Preferred Qualifications Collegiate head coaching experience. Experience coaching both men's and women's golf programs. Demonstrated success in conference and regional competition. Experience with fundraising and alumni engagement. Strong network within junior, amateur, and international golf circles.
