The Communications Supervisor develops, implements, and evaluates the Library District’s strategic communication, marketing, and branding initiatives to increase awareness, engagement, and support for the library’s mission. This role manages internal and external communications, produces high-quality visual and written content, and ensures consistent platform branding and messaging. The Communications Supervisor collaborates across departments to promote programs, services, resources, and events; oversees print and digital marketing efforts; and leverages data to inform future strategies. The ideal candidate is a creative, data-driven communicator with exceptional design, project management, and storytelling skills who fosters collaboration and builds community connections. Strategic Marketing, Communication & Branding Develop and implement cohesive branding strategies to enhance the library’s identity and reputation. Manage and enhance the Library District's communication platforms by coordinating and implementing effective social media strategies and email marketing campaigns. Optimize SEO practices to maximize engagement and expand the district's audience reach. Seek advertising and outreach opportunities and design promotional materials to spotlight library programs, events, resources, and services. Ensure all communication materials align with established branding guidelines and maintain consistency across platforms. Share district programs and events to community calendars and maintain public relations spaces within library facilities. Establish, monitor, and execute crisis communication plans as needed. Oversee and manage the communications budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies for campaigns, promotional materials, and advertising. 2. Graphic Design & Content Creation Design and produce visually engaging materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, social media graphics, newsletters, and advertisements. Create and manage content for digital campaigns, including promotional videos, infographics, and email newsletters. Capture, organize, edit, and share photos, videos, and patron stories to support campaigns and enhance storytelling. Collaborate with departments on promotional merchandise needs, design graphics for orders, and manage routine purchases. 3. Data Management & Reporting Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication, marketing, and advertising efforts. Use analytics from social media, email campaigns, and other channels to inform future strategies. Compile and present data for the Library District’s annual impact report, strategic plan, and other required reporting. Monitor and adapt strategies for library programs, resources, and services to increase engagement, awareness, and attendance. 4. Teamwork and Outreach Partner with library staff to identify communication needs and develop promotional strategies and content for programs and initiatives. Work with departments to evaluate and maintain promotional merchandise inventory. Educate staff on best practices for branding, marketing, and promotional platforms and tools. Collaborate with programming, outreach, and other departments to strategically promote library services, resources, programs, and events. Represent the library at community events, meetings, and conferences as needed. Support district-wide initiatives and special projects beyond core responsibilities. Stay current on industry trends and participate in professional development opportunities. 5. Budget and Resource Management Develops and manages the Communications and Marketing operating budgets. Monitor expenditures and ensure the responsible use of public funds by identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities. Works closely with their Manager and Finance Manager to develop and maintain the Communications budget. Facilitate the flow of information, distribute authority, and allocate resources to accomplish the goals of the Clearview Library District. 6. Other Duties as Assigned. Incumbents will be required to work evenings and weekends, be on call, and travel to external events. Supervisory Responsibility Supervision of the Digital Communications Coordinator and Communications Assistants. Conduct annual performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, support professional development, and facilitate the hiring, onboarding, and training of new communications team members as needed. Education and Experience Required Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Experience: 3–5 years in communications, marketing, or graphic design, preferably in the nonprofit or public sector. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Maintains current knowledge of library and communication trends, materials, practices, techniques, and technology; exhibits a willingness to learn other applications as needed. Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and digital marketing tools. Experience with SEO, email marketing platforms, and social media management. Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Experience with photography, videography, and basic video editing tools is a plus. Project management principles and procedures in the planning and implementation of programs and services. Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities, environments, and business needs while maintaining high performance and attention to detail. Effective in leading and working with a wide range of constituencies, including the library board, community organizations, and local governments. Directs team workflows to consistently meet project deadlines, while proactively flagging potential roadblocks and delivering clear, timely alternative solutions to stakeholders when delays are unavoidable. Position may require being up and moving around Library locations and, at times, stationary at work station. The job requires stooping, bending, squatting, and stretching. Occasional lifting, up to 25 pounds may be required. Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (with keyboard, shelving), eye-hand coordination, data entry, and computer use for accessing information.
