Yard Hostler/Attendant Lead (Graveyard Shift)

To be a successful Lead Yard Attendant you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must have a minimum of 24 months of commercial driving experience
- Must have valid Class A driver license with no more than 2 points
- Knowledge, comprehension, and compliance with DOT rules/regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multitasking
- Strong ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with all levels of employees.
- Demonstrate the ability to solve problems, accept constructive feedback and show flexibility should priorities and/or deadlines change
- Must have the ability to use a phone application for: mapping, work submissions, tracking, timekeeping ad electronic logs
- Train on all aspects, including job specific and safety. Work with yard attendants to ensure they fully understand how to perform their job, including refresher training.
- Provide positive supervision of yard attendants to ensure company standards and expectations are met.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the yard, including load-out and documentation.
- Maintain weekly yard schedule.
- Perform work assigned by transportation manager to ensure successful operation of the yard.
- Ensure all yard attendants are trained on TRUs and spot check performance.
- Effective communication between departments and prioritization of department needs.
- Plan and assign equipment according to loadout matric and availability.
- Understand equipment availability according to classification and weights of equipment.
- Understand the use of trailer refrigeration units. Understand basics of food safety and documentation of trailer temperatures.
- Effective communication between multiple departments for different departments to perform different actions on trailers. Must be able to understand what needs to be done next.
- Monitor of fuel levels and trailer inventory.
- Communicate and have proper etiquette on company radios.
- Monitor and report any equipment or product out of specifications.
- Movement of equipment with multiple types of vehicles and understanding of how to use equipment; 2-axle straight trucks, 3-axle tractors, multiple size trailers and tankers.
- Will not operate equipment outside of company property if not licensed to operate.
- Movement of company equipment between multiple parking facilities outside of company property.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
