All teachers must utilize age-appropriate practices aligned with LDOE Bulletin 137 and the developmental needs of the assigned age group.

All Providence House employees are expected to embody the organization’s mission — to move families from homelessness to independence — and demonstrate the core values of compassion, accountability, excellence, and collaboration in all aspects of their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Facilitate daily activities that support cognitive, language, social-emotional, fine motor, and gross motor development.
  • Input and maintain TS Gold documentation for assigned children (Objectives 1–30).
  • Turn in lesson plans promptly for Director review and approval.
  • Follow the daily schedule established by the CDC Director.
Classroom Management & Child Supervision
  • Provide continuous and active supervision of children at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and readiness.
  • Implement positive guidance and discipline techniques according to center policy.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, including incident/accident reports and daily observation logs.
Licensing Compliance & Cross-Classroom Support
  • Comply with all policies set forth by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) in alignment with Bulletin 137, utilizing age-appropriate practices tailored to the specific developmental needs of the assigned age group.
  • Ensure classroom compliance with Type III licensing regulations and CACFP requirements where applicable.
  • Support and assist in other CDC classrooms as assigned to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and operational continuity.
  • Adapt instructional and supervision methods appropriately when assisting across different developmental age groups.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers, Infant Teachers, and support staff to promote a unified center-wide approach.
Family Engagement & Communication
  • Communicate daily with parents regarding children’s experiences and development.

  • Encourage family engagement in child development and center activities.
Professionalism & Team Collaboration
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude toward children, parents, and staff.
  • Attend required continuing education workshops and professional development sessions.
