PCU Registered Nurse

Join our team as a PCU Registered Nurse in a secure corrections health unit for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The unit handles active oncology cases, surgical procedures, and other non-oncology diagnoses, providing a diverse and challenging environment. You will float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed, ensuring staff safety within a locked, controlled environment. The role requires EPIC charting experience and BLS certification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Float to Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Ensure staff and patient safety in a correctional environment
• Manage a variety of patient diagnoses including oncology and other medical conditions
• Utilize EPIC and Pyxis systems for documentation and medication management
• Provide comprehensive patient care with a focus on safety and accuracy

Certifications Required:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

• Secure correctional unit with access controlled by Corrections Officers
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3 for PCU, 1:4-5 for MS
• Shift assignments may include day, night, or rotating schedules
• Night shifts: 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Systems Utilized:

• Medication System: Pyxis
• Documentation System: EPIC

Patient Care & Management:

• Active oncology diagnoses and treatments
• Oncology workup admissions, surgical procedures, and other diagnoses like COPD, sepsis, pneumonia
• Manage infusion therapies, telemetry, respiratory support, and IV access

Skills & Competencies:

• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (dysrhythmias, telemetry)
• IV therapy and phlebotomy, including central lines and PICC lines
• Medication protocols including Heparin management and PCA use
• Respiratory management including CPAP, BIPAP, ABG interpretation

Shift Details:

• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, from 19:00 to 07:30

Hourly Pay Rate:

$59.18
