Join Our Team as a Barista at The Blue Loon!

The Blue Loon, a bakery café in New London, NH, is looking for a friendly, experienced part-time Barista to join our team. This position offers approximately 15–30 hours per week and requires flexibility to work mornings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

This is a dynamic, team-oriented position where no two shifts are exactly alike. While your primary responsibility will be crafting handcrafted espresso beverages and other café drinks, every Barista is also cross-trained in all front-of-house responsibilities, including cashier, expeditor, food runner, and floor support.

Depending on the needs of the day, you may spend most of your shift preparing drinks during a busy morning rush, then transition to assisting at the register, expediting orders, serving guests, restocking supplies, or helping keep the café looking its best. We work together, adapt throughout the day, and pitch in wherever needed to create an exceptional experience for every customer.

Because our front-of-house team is cross-trained, you'll become comfortable performing all front-of-house responsibilities. As a Barista, your primary responsibilities will include crafting high-quality coffee beverages while also supporting all areas of the café as needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing handcrafted espresso beverages, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty drinks to our quality standards.
• Maintaining consistency in beverage preparation while working efficiently during busy periods.
• Keeping the coffee bar clean, organized, stocked, and operating smoothly.
• Greeting customers warmly and providing exceptional hospitality.
• Operating our point-of-sale system and accurately processing customer transactions.
• Expediting orders and serving food and beverages to guests.
• Setting up and maintaining pastry displays.
• Providing menu recommendations and answering customer questions about our food and beverages.
• Restocking supplies and merchandise throughout the café.
• Performing routine cleaning tasks, including wiping surfaces, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing equipment, taking out trash and recycling, and helping maintain a clean, welcoming environment.
• Working collaboratively with the front- and back-of-house teams.
• Pitching in wherever needed to support the team and create an exceptional guest experience.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Previous barista experience in a fast-paced food service or hospitality environment.
• A passion for coffee and a desire to continue learning.
• A friendly, positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
• The ability to multitask while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• A hospitality mindset and genuine desire to create outstanding customer experiences.
• A team-first attitude with a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work mornings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Hourly wage plus participation in our shared tip pool (typically an additional $3–$5 per hour).
