SUMMARY Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the assigned facility and performs light maintenance as directed. This position is classified as emergency personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains cleanliness of assigned bathroom areas and replenishes supplies such as soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towel. Cleans and maintains assigned areas daily: empty trash, dust, sweep, mop/wet mop, wash surfaces. Utilizes power equipment such as scrubbers and waxing equipment for heavier cleaning when assigned. Secures facility as directed. Light painting as directed. Shovel/salt walkways surrounding the facility as assigned. Maintain cleanliness of outside area surrounding the facility as assigned. Classified as emergency personnel; must report for designated duties during inclement weather; time and duties assigned by Director of Facilities and/or Custodial & Warehouse Supervisor. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years of prior work experience as a custodian. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work in extreme (hot or cold) weather conditions. Ability to report to work in inclement weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl for an 8‑hour shift. Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record checks.
