CT Technologist

The CT Technologist utilizes imaging, computer, and other equipment to produce and retain high-quality diagnostic images. These images must meet or exceed department, organizational, and industry standards. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as well as image quality. Prepares patients for procedures, educates them, and responds to their questions or concerns. Ensures an age-appropriate approach to communication and safety needs. Demonstrates an understanding of physical and functional growth and development in patient education. Follows protocols for patient positioning, imaging technique, and radiation safety. Implements infection control and quality control techniques. Oversees and trains students in providing patient care, treatment, and services as part of their training. Verifies the ordered exam and its appropriateness using assessment data. Administers contrast as directed and positions the patient and equipment to achieve optimal images. Works with physicians to evaluate the images and determine if additional images are needed. Applies radiation safety techniques and devices to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Demonstrates accountability for results and continually strives to improve care and service. Respects every individual, sets standards for quality and caring, and succeeds with integrity.
