Cook Position at Elizabethtown College

Dining Services at Elizabethtown College is seeking a full-time Cook!

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure quality service and food production for all guests.

Essential Functions

• Prepare consistent, high quality menu items, including grab-and-go options and the salad bar
• Operate the cash register as needed
• Tear down, clean, and sanitize, and reset the Jays Nest at the end of the night for the following morning.
• Safely and effectively used knives, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Always maintain highest levels of safety and sanitation
• Accurately maintain required sanitation, production, and equipment records
• Always ensure proper station coverage; cover co-workers breaks, and PTO as needed
• Train and work alongside student staff
• Work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
• Assist other areas within Dining Services as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Non-Essential Functions

• Attend department meetings and participate in decision-making
• Assist other areas within dining services
• Attend conferences to further education
• Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree from an accredited culinary institute is preferred; plus two years of food service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to remain seated in a normal position for long periods of time

• Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally express information or instructions

• Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet

• Regularly required to stand for long periods of time

Vision Requirements

To successfully perform this position, individuals must possess the following:

• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
• Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships
• Adjustable focus
• Ability to distinguish colors

The individual is regularly exposed to indoor conditions and moderate noise level; the individual is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather and temperature extremes and chemicals/fumes associated with facility sanitation
