Project Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Project Engineer to join a fast-growing defense contractor client out of South Ogden, Utah. The position will be responsible for all activities related to planning, creating, editing, and authoring Technical Orders, Manuals and Publications for DoD customers. The Project Engineer will be leading the development of technical documentation and managing engineering integration projects. This role combines technical publication expertise with project execution leadership, requiring close coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical data packages, manuals, technical orders, and integrated hardware solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing skills, systems engineering knowledge, project leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex customer requirements into clear, executable engineering solutions.

Compensation: $128,000 - $147,000 annual salary per year.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), vacation, Paid Time Off (PTO), or Paid Sick Leave (PSL) based on state laws, paid holidays, and life insurance to all permanent full-time employees.

Responsibilities:

Develop, edit, and maintain Technical Orders, manuals, and technical publications.
Lead engineering and hardware integration efforts from planning through implementation.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, and installation engineering.
Create and review engineering drawings, technical data packages, installation instructions, test procedures, and configuration documentation.
Support design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR), testing activities, and customer technical meetings.
Manage technical risks, schedules, deliverables, and project execution.
Support aircraft/system installations, proposal development, and technical estimating efforts.
