Position Summary The Opportunity: The Procurement & Supply Specialist 1 will provide fiscal support in the area of Purchasing, under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Business Operations. This position operates in a fast-paced environment, handling a high volume of incoming documents and performing a variety of purchasing functions. This position will support the campus community to procure supplies, services, materials, and equipment, issue bids, and awards contracts within dollar limitations assigned by the purchasing authority in support of the Institution. The position is necessary to ensure that State requirements are being followed to procure the goods and services in support of the institution's mission. This position is also essential for effectively working with vendors and college staff to resolve purchasing items and related issues.
This is a full-time, classified position working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. This position works for the Business Office on the main campus located in Mount Vernon, Washington.

- Reviews and prioritizes requests in accordance with approved guidelines;

- Researches for new sources of supply; locates and contacts vendors and suppliers;
- Participates in discussions to correct supplier performance, price adjustments, or contract termination;
- Meets with supplier representatives and campus customers to resolve purchasing issues;
- Initiates change orders and supplemental agreements for goods and services;
- Verifies shipments by checking purchase orders against the supplier's quotes and the shipper's packing list and parts received.
- Ensures that all records are maintained and updated for the following: Vehicle Registrations, Procurement Cards, All documents related to procurements, and Disposal Records;
- Assists with Physical Inventory and Asset Entry into Tracking Systems;
- May prepare Items for Proper Disposal.
- Represents Institution as an attendee at trade shows, purchasing conventions, and Council meetings;
- Reviews trade publications to stay current with market trends;
- Represents Institution with Group Purchasing Organizations;
- Communicates with suppliers to stay current with industry developments;
- May serve on multi-agency client committees to evaluate input relative to specification development and contract award;
- May serve as a point of contact for the office, greeting and assisting staff and students as they enter.
- Performs other work as required.
Knowledge or understanding of:

Skills:

Salary, Benefits, Conditions of Employment, Application Procedure, About SVC Salary and Benefits:
- Salary is based on Range 41, Step A, $3,558 per month with periodic increments to $4,632 per month. Starting salary may be dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
- This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is dependent upon continued grant funding.
- This is a union-represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
