Job Description

The Harvest Assistant (Sorter) plays a key role in the production process by manually sorting corn in a cleanroom environment to ensure product quality and consistency. This position focuses on identifying and removing defective or unwanted materials from corn ears and maintaining a clean and organized work area throughout each shift.

Responsibilities

• Manually sort corn to identify and remove rogue ears, stalks, husks, trash, and other non-conforming materials.
• Separate and discard unwanted materials into designated chutes in accordance with production guidelines.
• Place corn ears requiring additional processing onto the reclaim conveyor for rework.
• Follow established production and sorting procedures to maintain consistent product quality.
• Assist with general production tasks related to packaging and packing as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience with manual sorting in a cleanroom or similar controlled environment.
• Ability to perform repetitive production and sorting tasks with attention to detail.
• Capability to handle general labor duties, including discarding materials and sweeping work areas.
• Basic understanding of general production processes, packaging, and packing tasks.
• Reliability in working assigned shifts and completing tasks in a timely manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in production, sorting, or general labor roles is beneficial.
• Comfort working around conveyors and production equipment.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to support various tasks within the production area.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom production environment focused on corn processing and sorting. You will work around conveyors, chutes, and packaging areas, performing manual sorting and general labor tasks. Two primary shift options are available: a first shift running approximately 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday; and a second shift running approximately 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. You must be able to work weekdays and weekends, typically 6 days per week. The environment requires adherence to cleanroom standards and safety protocols, and you should expect to be on your feet for much of the shift while performing repetitive sorting and cleaning tasks.

This is a Contract position based out of Woodhull, IL.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
