The DNRC seeks dedicated individuals for this seasonal, temporary wildfire preparedness job which may be offered in locations statewide. Employment is generally 3-6 months with work beginning in spring and ending in autumn. Applications are accepted each year beginning in January. DUTIES: A Wildfire Preparedness Technician supports the following duties: · Work with the Community Preparedness & Wildfire Prevention Program to disseminate outreach and educational materials that inform Montana’s citizens on how they can better prepare for wildfire. · Keep MTFireInfo.org up to date with the most current wildfire restrictions and fire weather information. · Perform a variety of other program support, project management, and related duties as assigned by supervisors in support of the DNRC’s Forestry Division mission and objectives. SPECIAL INFORMATION: Housing is not available at this location. The seasonal positions will remain open and additional screening will occur as needed until positions are filled. Applicants for these positions must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire and have a valid drivers’ license and less than 12 conviction points over the most recent 36 months. APPROXIMATE DATES AND HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR TEMPORARY SEASONAL POSITIONS will depend on each position and will vary between June and September. Positions will be terminated at the end of the normal work season or as notified by the Department. Pay varies depending on experience. QUALIFICATIONS Education: * The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to or in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, communication, or related field. Requirements: * 18 years of age at time of hire. *SPECIAL INFORMATION: * Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recently completed 36 months.
