Junior Buyer

Job Summary: The Junior Buyer supports the procurement of materials required for production by assisting with purchasing activities, maintaining accurate data, and coordinating with internal teams and suppliers. This entry-level role focuses on learning supply chain processes, supporting day-to-day buying activities, and ensuring materials are ordered, tracked, and received on time. The Junior Buyer will work under guidance from senior team members and contribute to overall supply chain efficiency. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in sourcing and coordinating with approved suppliers that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Support senior buyers with supplier communication, quotations, and basic negotiations as needed. Create and maintain purchase orders and related documentation in line with company procedures and quality standards. Place material orders based on production schedules and guidance from planning or senior buyers. Monitor inventory levels and report shortages, excess, or potential risks. Assist with tracking excess or obsolete inventory and support corrective actions. Enter and update supplier, material, and order data in the ERP system accurately. Track order confirmations, shipping status, and delivery dates. Assist with reviewing basic shipping and delivery data to identify delays or issues. Coordinate with manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and quality teams to support material availability. Help communicate design changes or material updates to suppliers under supervision. Respond to material issues and elevate concerns to senior team members when necessary. Support process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies or data inaccuracies. Assist with basic cost analysis and reporting activities. Prepare routine reports or presentations related to orders, inventory, and supplier performance. Required Skills And Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic problem-solving ability with attention to detail. Willingness to learn procurement, supply chain, and inventory management processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn ERP systems. Basic understanding of purchasing or supply chain concepts (academic or internship experience acceptable). Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. Preferred Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or in progress). Internship, co-op, or 0–2 years of relevant purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing experience preferred. Physical Demands: Sitting and standing on manufacturing floor Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: No travel required.
