Patient Care Tech - Emergency Room (Full Time, Evenings) Bucks-Jefferson

Overview With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members, addressing the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diverse patient population served by Jefferson Health. May collaborate with all clinical departments (a/k/a/telehealth) and designated staff at the patient\'s site to facilitate telehealth encounters between patients and providers. Responsibilities Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Recognizes patients and their family/designated care partners in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values. Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family, and designated care partners. Performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under the direction of licensed clinical team members. Actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment. May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs. Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team. Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role. Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis. Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care. Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Shift/Hours: Full Time, Evenings - 36 hours weekly Additional Qualifications LVHN colleagues must successfully complete LVHN\'s inexperienced technical partner course. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient\'s weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. The role may involve kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
