Commercial Truck Driver

Minimum skills and abilities required:

• Ability to drive a commercial truck
• Current valid Alabama driver's license. Driving record with no evidence of driving under the influence, reckless driving, excessive speeding, or other major traffic violations
• Ability to manipulate bins weighing in excess of 400 pounds
• Ability to ready written directions
• Understand and obey all traffic laws with the ability to make traffic related decisions while driving
• Determine course of action in the event of a vehicle breakdown, deteriorating road conditions in poor weather, or other situations when a consultation with supervisor is not immediately available
• Possess manual dexterity in using tools for general maintenance
• Perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. Activities that often require considerable use of arms and legs, such as in the physical handling of materials, climbing stairs, and getting in and out of truck

Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Serve as a representative of Brett/Robinson, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other Brett/Robinson employees, owners, guests, and members of the community
• Load and unload deliveries to Brett/Robinson properties
• Drive delivery van from properties to the laundry facility, delivering and picking up linens and materials
• Making other stops as assigned
• Keep vehicle fueled, clean, and in good working condition. Reporting any problems to management
• Keep accurate records of daily routes and activities
• Report safety hazards
• Attend departmental meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working conditions:

• Ability to work flexible hours, up to 40 hours per week, 7 days a week; according to seasonal needs
• Work environment includes exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, and cold
• Regular attendance and punctuality are expected in accordance to company policy
