Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Company: A large-scale energy company (disclosed upon screening calls)

Location: Battle Butte, Montana (15 miles north of the town of Columbus)

Scope: 130 MW wind turbines, roads, collection system, substation, gen-tie line

Construction Timeline: September 2026 – July 2028

 

Job Description:

The construction project manager will be the full-time on-site Owner’s representative overseeing a lump sum EPC contract for the Battle Butte Solar Project. This project consist of 350,000 bi-facial solar modules spanning 1200 acres. This connects to the Colstrip Transmission Line.  The CM will report to an off-site Project Manager who will handle overall project execution including contract management, cost and schedule reporting, and other corporate functions.  The PM will be on site 25% of the time or less, depending on the project phase.

 

The CM will be the eyes and ears of the PM and maintain daily contact with contractors and local PSE Operations personnel.  The CM will also coordinate the work of additional team members on site such as Quality Assurance inspectors or other specialized contractors hired by the Owner.  The CM will assist the PM in preparation of weekly reports, site photos, etc. and attend the daily production meetings held by the contractor.

 

Qualifications:

• 5-7+ years of experience as a Construction PM, APM, Construction Manager or Field Engineer, preferably on a utility scale wind or solar project.

  • Experience with substation, transmission line, and/or medium voltage underground systems is preferred.

• 5+ years of experience supporting multimillion dollar projects in upwards of $50mm+

• 5+ years of experience within commercial projects

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and techniques,

with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Ability to write

clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.

• Extensive knowledge of team management techniques to bring about agreement

between divergent points of view.

• Familiarity with MS Office, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, and Procore

• Familiarity with scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principals.

• Familiarity with project management principles and practices with the ability to

manage multiple complex projects in a cross-functional environment. Strong negotiating

and critical thinking skills.

• Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an

understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work

ethic are expected.
