Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions. Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and maintenance repairs of equipment such as data terminals, communication consoles, satellite receiver systems, base stations, remote control units, sirens, signals, alarms, and other low voltage electronic equipment. Maintain low voltage electronic equipment in county vehicles (patrol cars, fire engines, trucks, vans). Install low voltage electronic equipment in district buildings or field locations. Service and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, radio test sets, and digital multimeters. Coordinate projects and tasks with school staff, inform site personnel, and schedule moves of students as needed. Maintain timely and accurate inventory records for service vehicles, tools, and equipment. Assist higher level technicians in repair and maintenance of electronic equipment. Understand and safely use maintenance tools in accordance with district and OSHA regulations. Install, maintain, alter, and repair low voltage components in district facilities. Operate hand and power tools for specific trades. Adhere to safety practices for equipment, tools, materials, and district-owned vehicles. Perform cleanup and worksite restoration activities. Respond to emergency call-outs after hours. Attend required training to keep abreast of current technology. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Four (4) years of experience maintaining communications or electronic low voltage systems. Valid Florida Class E driver's license and compliance with district’s Safe Driver Plan. Ability to read and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations; write reports, correspondence, and manuals; effectively present and respond to questions. Mathematical skills: calculate figures and amounts, apply basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning ability: solve practical problems, interpret instructions in various forms. Computer skills: Microsoft Office. Physical demands: up to 55 pounds lifting; standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, depth perception, color vision, field of vision. Eligibility for interview requires passing written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms/tools and their use.
