Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Principal Data Engineer to join our core centralized Talent Augmentation division in a full-time remote capacity across LATAM, with targeted regional recruitment tracks covering Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Guatemala. In this high-stakes and high-leverage technical leadership seat, you will step up to claim true individual operational and strategic accountability for spearheading the end-to-end design, development, optimization, and governance of the modern data platforms enabling our clients’ advanced analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence models. Shifting completely away from routine database backup scripts, minor local table cleaning, or passive SQL query tuning, you will operate as a principal data infrastructure architect—partnering face-to-face with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and C-suite stakeholders. This position requires an enterprise data architecture veteran with 8+ years of dedicated history who structures multi-tiered cloud-native streaming data repositories fluidly natively using Data Scientist pipelines, constructs performant backend query logic smoothly natively using SQL data warehouse designs, and commands enterprise orchestration frameworks confidently under fast-paced deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise-Scale Data Architecture Design: Formulate, document, and execute the comprehensive technical roadmap, data lake schemas, and storage abstractions for large-scale data platforms power-routing client operations cleanly natively utilizing Data Scientist principles.
• High-Throughput ETL/ELT Pipeline Engineering: Lead the development and optimization of highly scalable, low-latency ETL/ELT pipelines engineered for both complex high-volume batch processing and near real-time data streaming layers natively leveraging SQL parameters.
• Cloud-Native Environment Sourcing: Architect, deploy, and support enterprise data storage solutions, managing distributed clusters seamlessly across modern cloud infrastructures including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Advanced Data Modeling and Warehouse Design: Drive and implement modern relational and non-relational data modeling strategies, structuring robust corporate indices using Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, or Data Vault methodologies.
• Programmatic Orchestration Framework Management: Configure, manage, and expand automated workflow execution networks, leveraging developer tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt, or closely related infrastructure tools to reduce pipeline failures.
• Data Governance and Security Enforcement: Define, monitor, and enforce rigid technical standards, coding style templates, data privacy protocols, access logging layers, and data lineage compliance metrics across all platforms.
• Cross-Functional Analytical Alignment: Partner in lockstep with distributed Data Science and Marketing Intelligence pods, ensuring data pipelines continuously ingest, clean, and output production-ready datasets optimized for machine learning training loops.
• Peer Code Auditing and Technical Mentorship: Uphold elite engineering standards across the technical community, executing thorough peer code reviews and providing recursive coaching to data engineers across varying seniority levels.
• Asynchronous Project Administration: Lead technical architectural discussions across multiple distributed teams, using clear async documentation to track project timelines and stream progress metrics without meeting bloat.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years of verified professional history running advanced data engineering, distributed data architecture, enterprise database administration, cloud data warehousing, or big data systems consulting.
• Mandatory Senior Leadership Sourcing: Proven, hands-on career history operating explicitly within Senior, Lead, Staff, or Principal Data Engineering positions inside an enterprise technology or talent augmentation ecosystem.
• Expert-tier capability writing complex analytical queries, indexing high-volume transactional records, and managing distributed relational structures natively utilizing SQL architectures.
• Practical operational familiarity configuring feature vectors, parsing telemetry datasets, and cleaning raw unstructured variables natively using Data Scientist Python scripting toolsets.
• Demonstrated technical command building operational ETL/ELT tracks using modern orchestration suites, requiring direct functional fluency with Apache Airflow or dbt.
• Advanced, uncompromised written and verbal communication traits in fluent English, enabling total confidence and strategic consultative influence when defending complex first-principles technical architecture trade-offs before international stakeholder boards.
• Education context: Possession of a formal university Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative engineering discipline (or equivalent practical career field experience; a Master’s degree is considered a strong asset).
