Dental Receptionist / Patient Coordinator

Joie Pediatric Dentistry | Ramsey, NJ Position Type: Part-Time (2 days/week to start), with opportunity for growth

Overview Welcome to Joie Pediatric Dentistry! We are a brand-new, modern pediatric dental startup located in Ramsey, NJ. We are looking for a warm, energetic, and highly organized Dental Receptionist to be the face of our practice. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for our little patients and their parents. Because we are a startup, this is a unique ground-floor opportunity: you will start at 2 days a week, with the direct opportunity to grow into a larger role and take on more hours as our patient base expands. Responsibilities

• Create a Welcoming Environment: Greet patients and their parents warmly as they arrive, setting a positive, kid-friendly, and calming tone for their visit.
• Schedule Management: Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage cancellations or rescheduling efficiently using our dental practice management software.
• Insurance & Billing: Verify dental insurance breakdowns (PPOs, etc.), calculate copays, process dental claims, and present basic treatment plans to parents.
• Patient Onboarding: Manage digital patient intake forms, update electronic health records, and ensure all consent forms and health histories are accurate and complete.
• Office Operations: Maintain a clean and organized reception area, file documents appropriately, and collaborate closely with the clinical team to keep the daily schedule running smoothly.
• Compliance: Ensure complete confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards regarding all patient information.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist or Front Desk Coordinator. Pediatric dental experience is a massive plus!
• Dental Knowledge: Strong understanding of dental terminology, CDT coding, and standard dental billing procedures.
• Software Skills: Familiarity with dental practice management software (we will be using Open Dental)
• Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a professional, patient, and empathetic phone manner. You must be comfortable and happy interacting with children of all ages and their parents.
• Startup Mentality: Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented. You are adaptable and excited to help grow a new practice.
