Material Handler - Biotech Start Up Company- 1st Shift - $23/hr-$25/hr
Job Description
The material handler will support the team with shipping and receiving duties, picking items for the manufacturing team, and adhering to standard operating procedures related to packaging equipment in cold rooms and freezers. The role involves performing tasks in Microsoft Excel, coordinating scheduled shipping pickups with FedEx, and collaborating with FedEx representatives. Additionally, the material handler will liaise with the manufacturing team to review batch records, locate inventory items, and pull them for the manufacturing floor. The individual will work within QMS systems and handle a variety of physical tasks, including moving racks, freezers, and carts to make room for new inventory.
Responsibilities

• Assist with shipping and receiving duties.
• Pick items for the manufacturing team.
• Follow standard operating procedures for packaging equipment in cold rooms and freezers.
• Perform data entry tasks using Microsoft Excel.
• Coordinate scheduled shipping pickups with FedEx and liaise with FedEx representatives.
• Review batch records and find inventory items for the manufacturing floor.
• Operate within QMS systems.
• Move racks, freezers, and carts to create space for new inventory.

Essential Skills

• Experience in shipping and receiving.
• Proficiency in inventory management and packing.
• Familiarity with Kanban and cold chain SOPs.
• Competence in using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Experience with FedEx shipping and meticulous record-keeping.
• Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
• Knowledge of international shipping and packaging.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• International shipping experience is desirable.
• Experience with stock room organization and reorganization.

Work Environment
The material handler will work Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm, with occasional overtime. The role involves consistent lifting of 50 pounds and requires a proactive approach to finding work during slower periods. The job demands significant physical activity in a busy warehouse setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
