Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Compensation & Benefits Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification (up to $700) Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year) Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends OFF Hours: First Shift 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, boot allowance Paid training for skill development Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top‑Tech competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year Extra paid day off for U.S. military veterans 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake, tire work) Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience in relevant field (preferred) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years) Must drive Ryder vehicles as part of the role Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and drug‑free workplace.
