Description

This is a part-time assignment that will include field and office work. Hours worked can range between 20 - 25 hours for a period of up to one year, depending on workload and availability of the selected candidate. This position is for our Northern Treatment Plant located in Brighton, CO.

The Northern Treatment Plant (NTP) provides interns with exposure to wastewater treatment operations, analytical instrumentation, process monitoring, data analytics, and research opportunities within a collaborative plant environment. Interns work alongside technical staff and multiple departments across the plant, including operations, maintenance, engineering, and technology teams, to support critical operational and environmental systems while gaining practical hands-on industry experience.

Temporary, non-benefited technical position to work exclusively on maintenance and calibration of analytical process control and monitoring instrumentation, benchtop analysis, data analytics, and research efforts. The candidate will work as part of an analytical team executing work under the direction of Technology and Innovation Staff.

Examples of Duties
  • Clean, perform maintenance procedures and calibrate in-process analytical instrumentation
  • Perform benchtop nutrient analyses
  • Record and analyze analytical and process data
  • Coordinate and communicate with other operations and engineering staff
  • Assist with instrument trials and applied research projects
Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Basic understanding of Wastewater treatment processes
  • Good sampling and benchtop analysis techniques
  • General laboratory and office processes and procedures
  • MS Office software

Skilled at:

  • Good written and oral communication
  • Working in a laboratory setting

Ability to:

  • Follow procedures and best management practices while practicing good judgement
  • Learn multiple different instrument interfaces, configurations, settings, and applications
  • Follow workflows and procedures
  • Multitask and complete work in a timely manner
  • Perform effectively in a collaborative team environment

Education: Minimum of three semesters of college education with demonstrated academic performance in coursework in the physical and/or biological sciences, civil and/or environmental engineering fields.
