Job Description AECOM is actively seeking to add a Geologist II to join our Remediation team in our Annapolis Junction, MD office. This position will report for 40 hours per week. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services to our key clients. The Annapolis Junction engineering group focuses on soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment investigation and remediation, and environmental compliance support. Projects may include assisting with design and desk studies, risk assessments, environmental compliance assessments and remediation solutions including data procurement and analysis, drawing and specification development, factual and interpretative report writing. Candidate must be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Under the direction of Project Managers and senior technical staff, the job responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to: Manage tasks as part of larger projects. Write technical planning documents and reports with the support of senior environmental professionals. Assist project manager with proposal writing and cost estimating. Work with procurement staff to hire subcontractors and manage implementation of their services. Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with public agencies and other stakeholders. Interact with federal and private clients. Develop client relationships through technical work. Attend site visits and planning meetings. Assist with planning and implementation of remedial actions. Assist in planning and leading field investigation programs involving drilling, borehole logging, well installation, groundwater monitoring, and subsequent remedial activities. Perform standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures. Detect problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc. Propose appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance. The position involves local travel to project sites to collect samples, oversee remediation construction contractors, gather information and present results of study and design work Support PFAS assessments including site investigation, remedial options assessments, and PFAS waste management. Perform oversight of field service subcontractors and supervise ground investigation and remediation works. Collect and evaluate soil and groundwater samples/data during assessment and remedial action activities at various sites. Ensure that health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project. Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work with ability to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project Possess strong logic skills Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike. Flexible with working hours and locations, frequent travel within 1 – 2 hour drive of home office, and occasionally further. Excellent written and verbal skills (in English); fluency in other languages is an advantage. Strong quality and time management and ability to multi-task Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in Geology or related field + 2yearsof related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Experience with work or project involving RCRA programs Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review Must pass 9-panel drug and alcohol test for project requirementsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Geology or related field Professional Geologist (PG) license or ability to receive PG license within next twelve months. 3+ years of experience performing site investigations that includes soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), analytical data interpretation and reporting Understanding of remediation consulting completing environmental investigations and site remediation Experience working directly with client/facility environmental staff Strong background in health and safety procedures and preparation of health and safety plans Strong background in technical writing (remedial investigation reports, corrective action studies, etc.) Experience with various remediation technologies; vapor mitigation systems, SVE systems, pump and treat systems, chemical injections, bio-sparge, etc. Experience conducting inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and fuel aboveground storage tanks. Current OSHA 40-Hr HAZWOPER Training Familiarity with Maryland State and Federal Environmental Regulations Familiarity with power sector facilities Familiarity with aviation sector facilities Additional Information Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
