Visiting Senior Program Lead, Education and Strategic Initiatives Full‑time, 12‑month academic professional position at University of Illinois Extension, Urbana‑Champaign Campus. Location: Urbana‑Champaign Campus. In‑state hybrid remote work arrangements are available. Security‑Sensitive Position: Comprehensive background checks, including criminal conviction information, CANTS check, and Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted. Responsibilities Organizational Leadership Provide overall leadership and oversight of day‑to‑day operations for education, workforce, and career development programs, and grant‑supported initiatives within FSNSHI. Oversee strategy and development of grants related to education, workforce preparedness, and strategic initiatives. Lead the Education team within FSNSHI, supervise staff, conduct performance reviews, and implement staff development initiatives. Communicate with 27 Extension units, grantors, and subcontractors across the state. Coordinate with the Extension business office to maintain fiscal decisions that meet grant requirements. Develop new policy and procedure guides and manage evaluation processes required by grants. Prepare grant reports, impact narratives, and materials for leadership, funders, and stakeholders. Contribute to the overall vision of FSNSHI. Program Development and Implementation Oversight Initiate and direct interdisciplinary committees and workgroups related to grants. Deliver presentations, in‑services, and trainings on position topics for internal and external stakeholders; train trainers. Represent FSNSHI and HCW on Extension teams. Establish and maintain relationships across campus, state, and multi‑state region with program stakeholders and other Extension programs. Coordinate, integrate, and continuously improve Extension education and training systems in food systems, nutrition security, and community health. Develop Extension curricula, credentials, professional development offerings, and learning pathways for professionals and community partners. Establish and uphold standards for instructional quality, adult learning, accessibility, and culturally responsive practice. Ensure alignment and coherence across Extension programs, funded projects, and partner‑delivered education efforts. Support innovation in education delivery, including digital and hybrid learning models. Research Build professional relationships and participate in partnerships that link academic programs and research to Extension programming. Serve on state or national boards and workgroups to enhance collaborations between Extension and other food and health organizations. Participate in research activities with faculty and collaborators; contribute to scholarly publications. Maintain active membership in professional societies to stay current in discipline. Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance subject‑matter competency. Other Information Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements. Perform duties that support University of Illinois Extension programming, as assigned. Travel statewide and regionally; personal transportation required. Physical Demands The employee will work in an office and in community settings, often requiring travel between locations. Personal transportation is required; a valid driver’s license is preferred. Work may take place during evenings and/or weekends. Exposure to varied environmental factors (hot or cold weather, noise, allergens, uneven ground) and physical demands such as moving, transporting items up to 40 pounds, and twisting, pushing, pulling movements may occur. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in nutrition, community/public health, adult education, organizational leadership, or a related accredited field; candidates with a master’s in progress may be considered, but degree must be completed by hire date. At least five (5) years of full‑time professional experience planning, developing, and implementing community education programs. Experience in staff management, including facilitating groups to achieve program deliverables. Experience with grant writing and coordination. Experience implementing adult learning theory, instructional design, and digital learning platforms. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in a related field. Experience with University of Illinois Extension. Experience leading career development systems, credentialing initiatives, or professional learning infrastructures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and lead cross‑functional teams to achieve high‑level deliverables. Understanding of the land‑grant University Extension system and ability to work effectively within it. Appointment Information Temporary, full‑time, benefits‑eligible, non‑tenured academic professional position; may become non‑visiting contingent upon funding and programmatic needs. Expected start ASAP after closing date. Salary range $78,000 – $100,000; final offer based on internal equity, qualifications, and budget constraints.
