Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Houston, Texas. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position located in Houston, Texas. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients in a tertiary care maternity unit. The position entails managing patients through various stages of labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery, ensuring compliance with unit policies and safety protocols. Job Details Certifications, Education, and Experience Requirements: Must hold BLS, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery is required. Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with 36 hours minimum per week. Unit Information: 35-bed Maternal Assessment Center with a staff of 160, including charge nurses, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and support staff. Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1 laboring patients, 2:1 post-anesthesia and recovery patients. Equipment and Technology: Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris intravenous pumps, GE core metrics fetal monitor, Panda warmer, CADD Solis epidural pumps, NOVI wireless fetal monitor. Responsibilities: Managing vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, postpartum recovery, and antepartum testing. Assisting with procedures such as electronic fetal monitoring, placement of fetal scalp electrodes, and intrauterine pressure catheters. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with OR circulation for cesarean sections, placement of fetal scalp electrode (FSE) and intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC). Additional Information: The unit includes a 13-bed Maternal Assessment Center for triage of pregnant patients, with 24/7 ancillary support including anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist services.
