Medrina is a large, physician-owned, multi-specialty medical group that has been a national leader for over 15 years. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Director – Internal Medicine to join our team in the Mobile, AL market.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physiatrist who enjoys providing high-quality rehabilitation and pain management while taking on a leadership role within the post-acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have experience managing medically complex adult and geriatric patients with musculoskeletal, neurologic, and functional impairments. This role provides clinical oversight, collaborates with advanced practice providers, and helps ensure exceptional patient care within Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs).

The Medical Director will oversee patient care, support APP providers, collaborate with facility teams, and serve as a clinical leader within the market while helping patients maximize function, mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Provide medical oversight and leadership for assigned Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs).
\n
• Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans
\n
• Diagnose and manage musculoskeletal, neurologic, orthopedic, and chronic pain conditions
\n
• Evaluate and treat patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, fractures, joint replacement, deconditioning, and other disabling conditions
\n
• Provide rehabilitation and pain management consultations, including trigger point injections and joint injections (where applicable)
\n
• Monitor patient progress and modify rehabilitation plans to optimize functional outcomes
\n
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners, therapists, nursing staff, specialists, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams
\n
• Review and support APP clinical decision-making and patient management
\n
• Promote evidence-based rehabilitation practices and quality improvement initiatives
\n
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
\n
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, facility partners, and healthcare teams
\n

Preferred Experience

\n

\n
• Physician with experience in Internal Medicine
\n
• Hospital Affiliations (preferred)
\n
• Experience managing adult and geriatric rehabilitation patients
\n
• Comfortable working in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) settings
\n
• Experience treating musculoskeletal disorders, chronic pain, stroke recovery, orthopedic rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation, and functional impairments
\n
• Experience performing joint injections, trigger point injections, and other office-based procedures preferred
\n
• Strong clinical judgment and leadership abilities
\n
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
\n
• Passion for improving function, mobility, independence, and quality of life
\n

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• MD or DO degree
\n
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine
\n
• Active medical license in Alabama
\n
• Active DEA license
\n
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred
\n
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, therapists, and facility partners
\n

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting while working with patients as well as working on a computer. 
\n
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 
\n
• May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards. 
\n
• Must wear the required PPE per company and/or facility requirement. 
\n
• Must comply with facility vaccination requirements.
