Data Analyst Specialist

Job Summary Fully onsite in McLean. Location: McLean, Virginia. Job type: Contract. Salary: $50 - $68 per hour. Work hours: 9am to 5pm. Education: Bachelors. Responsibilities Data Analysis & Pattern Identification: Extract, analyze, and interpret data from enterprise data stores and transactional databases to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Validate data consistency and accuracy against defined enterprise data models and business rules. Proactively identify and investigate data discrepancies that may impact downstream consumers. Document differences between legacy and future state data. Data Profiling & Quality Assessment: Perform detailed data profiling to assess data completeness, validity, and consistency. Leverage data profiling and data quality tools to automate validation where applicable. Document data quality issues, root causes, and recommended remediation actions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data teams, application teams, and business stakeholders to understand data flows, transformations, and dependencies. Facilitate working sessions to triage, analyze, and resolve identified data issues. Drive alignment on data definitions, ownership, and quality expectations across teams. Data Governance & Model Alignment: Ensure data aligns with enterprise data models, standards, and governance frameworks. Support data reconciliation efforts across multiple data sources, particularly in transition or dual-data environments. Contribute to documentation of data lineage, transformations, and control points. Support transition of data ownership to producers in alignment with the target-state operating model. Maintain metadata, including definitions, lineage, and sensitivity/criticality classifications. Communication & Issue Resolution: Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Track issues, owners, and remediation timelines to ensure resolution. Prepare concise summaries and updates for leadership on data health and risks. Historic Data Migration: Support planning and execution of historical data migration, including identification of anomalies and resolution strategies. Validate and test data against target-state models to ensure operational readiness. Qualifications Project & Delivery Execution: Foundational project management skills, including tracking deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies across data workstreams. Self‑motivated, proactive, and results‑oriented problem solver with strong analytical thinking and communication skills. Ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies and adapt in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience within the mortgage or financial services industry.
