Application Engineer - Large Projects Solutions

Responsibilities Review customer specifications, commercial and technical documents, and product requirements. Identify and define the preliminary scope of work for a complete solution that meets customer specifications. Prepare technical configurations for electrical products using Siemens tools and collaborate with engineers within the business unit to generate solutions for the Siemens suite of products. Prepare 2D layout drawings (or 3D drawings when required) to illustrate the proposed solution and scope of work. Prepare RFQ packages for third‑party products and work closely with the procurement team to secure quotations. Evaluate quotations, make technical recommendations for vendor selection, and develop the cost model for the quotation. Secure approvals from senior management for the quotation and cost model. Prepare customer‑facing proposal packages covering the complete scope of work. Engage in customer discussions by supporting the business development and sales teams. Coordinate with the PMO team for an efficient and effective handover of the project from the bid phase to the project execution phase, upon winning the project. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or another accredited engineering discipline. Five or more years of engineering experience in an EPC, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment (an advanced degree may substitute for two years of experience). Design and application experience with medium‑voltage electrical distribution products and power delivery systems. Knowledge and experience evaluating relay protection and control schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams. Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for power distribution applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and product configuration/pricing applications. Experience with electrical and 2D layout drawing tools such as AutoCAD and Visio. Travel requirement of less than 10%. Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Collaboration, leadership, and decision‑making skills in a team environment, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks while providing excellent customer service. Ability to analyze customers’ technical documentation to interpret and apply appropriate Siemens product offerings. Basic financial knowledge to understand and support ongoing business planning and product/project lifecycle processes. Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers. Ability to identify market trends and work closely with marketing and technology teams to develop and justify projects to close the identified gaps. Experience with integrating medium‑voltage electrical distribution products and power delivery within E‑houses/ buildings. Familiarity with IBC, NEC, and NFPA codes and standards for E‑houses/buildings and best practices. Experience preparing 3D layout drawings using tools such as AutoCAD and Revit. Proficiency in the design and application of electrical distribution products, with integration knowledge in E‑houses/buildings as a plus. PE or PMP certification is a plus.
