Bioinformatics Analyst I - Lung Regeneration Research

Overview:Seeking a bioinformatics Analyst with strong spatial transcriptomics, scRNA-seq and Visium HD expertise to analyze single-cell and spatial data, support lab training, and advance lung regeneration research. Dr. Yan Hu’s research aims to uncover therapeutic pathways to promote small airway and alveolar regeneration, particularly in diseases where current treatments are limited, such as COPD and BPD. Her lab employs cutting-edge methodologies, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, patient-derived lung organoids, ex vivo precision-cut lung slices, and transgenic animal disease models. By integrating these advanced approaches, Dr. Hu seeks to advance our understanding of lung epithelial progenitor cell function and develop innovative strategies to enhance lung tissue repair.Job Description Summary:Analyzes genomic data to identify and interpret genetic variations, providing insights into disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.Job Description:Essential Functions:Analyzes and interprets genomic data to identify potential disease-causing mutations or genetic variations.Develops and implements bioinformatics pipelines and workflows for genomic data analysis.Collaborates with research teams to design experiments and analyze data.Maintains and updates genomic databases and software tools.Communicates findings and results to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Stays up-to-date with the latest developments in bioinformatics and genomics research.Education Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular genetics, computer science, bioinformatics, or related field, required.M.S degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline, preferred.Skills:Superior attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.Interest in genomics and bioinformatics, and willingness to learn concepts and terminology from these fields as needed.Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment.Experience:Experience in a Linux/Unix environment and familiarity with scripting and process automation (Python/Perl, shell), preferred.Physical Requirements:OCCASIONALLY: Standing, WalkingFREQUENTLY: Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbsCONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Color vision, Computer skills, Decision Making, Depth perception, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing – Far/near, Sitting"The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
