Job Summary

A Field Service Technician III at Doble Engineering will provide maintenance and technical support for Doble equipment at customer locations, including domestic and international locations. This role identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions and will conduct scheduled repairs. This role will be required to develop detailed service reports to document service visits and troubleshooting actions and logs to track maintenance activity. This role will be based at our Accident, MD office and will report to the Service Manager.

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts, independent on-site analysis and repair of high voltage, high current test equipment
• Troubleshoots system faults on relay, PLC, and microprocessor-controlled equipment
• Removes and replaces system components to accomplish repair
• Modifies Programmable Logic Controller programs under the direction of the assign Automation Engineer
• Operationally checks equipment after repair for serviceability
• Performs on-site Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Service
• Uses voltage and current supplies, kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment to calibrate high voltage, high current test equipment. Perform preventative inspection and basic lubrication of equipment
• Designs and implements practical, on-equipment training at world-wide locations
• Answers questions pertaining to operation of equipment while testing customer's test objects
• Prepares and delivers quotations for varying customer service quote requests
• Prepares cost analysis and quotations for custom parts and upgrade requests
• Prepares quotations for stock parts and services
• Provides telephone support by communicating with customers to assist with troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of high voltage, high current test equipment
• Travels approximately 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally; passport required
• Responsible for the direct interaction with the customer
• Communicates with customer to know equipment configuration, maintenance status and coordinate final scheduling
• Makes the decision on replacing faulty stock, non-stock, and custom components on delivered test equipment
• Makes modifications to system after acceptance from Service or Design Engineer

Qualifications

Education:

• Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent training. Additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel
• Ability to professionally communicate with customers

Preferred Experience (Not Required):

• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
• Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment
• Experience with Partial Discharge Systems
• Familiar and comfortable with international travel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to travel to world-wide locations; passport required
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work in the US without sponsorship

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience. Hourly Pay Range Minimum $26.61 - Midpoint $33.26
