PLUMBER III (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Plumber III is responsible for the operation and coordination of all work in the Maintenance Plumbing Shop.  Must possess knowledge and skill in plumbing applications in water, gas, oil, sewage and fire control. Installs, maintains, inspects and repairs standard equipment. Demonstrates the best methods of doing plumbing work and ensures that the work is done according to plans and specifications and is coordinated with other trades. Follows oral and written directions. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; prevents escapes and injury by these persons to themselves or others or to property; maintains security of working areas and work materials; inspects premises and searches inmates for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs. May be required to undergo a physical and pulmonary examination for the respirator program. May be required to participate on an asbestos and/or lead program with proper training and the Confine Space Entry Program. May be required to be certified in aerial lift operations.  See attached duty statement.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
