Adult Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) - FT - Days - Jeff Hwy

Job Summary This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support services to in‑patients and out‑patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The RT‑CRT sets up monitors, weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draws, analyzes and reports Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs, delivers intermittent therapy, assists with changing artificial airways, and provides services as ordered by a physician. Education and Experience Education: Associate's Degree (Preferred: Bachelor's Degree) Work Experience: None required Certifications Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice National Board of Respiratory Care – Registered Respiratory Therapist Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – must be obtained within 90 days of hire Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows‑style applications, various software packages specific to the role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Job Duties Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure. Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient. Educates patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans. Performs diagnostic procedures. Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patient served in assigned area. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, introduction methods, adapting explanations of services/procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style. Other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Very heavy work may involve exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 50 pounds frequently, or 20 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements exceed those for sedentary work. The job requires stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing, sitting or standing for prolonged periods, using mechanical lifting devices when appropriate, and working a flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). The duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue and may entail occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications or hazardous waste.
