Food Server / Waitstaff Position Summary

Shoal Creek is seeking professional, hospitality-driven Food Servers to join our Food & Beverage team. This role is responsible for delivering attentive, polished, and personalized service to members and their guests while maintaining the standards expected of a premier private club.

Our servers are expected to demonstrate strong service awareness, professionalism, teamwork, and attention to detail throughout every shift. This position includes food and beverage service, dining-room preparation, event support, and maintaining clean, organized, and fully stocked service areas.

Compensation: $19.00–$22.00 per hour + commission
Employment Type: Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available
Work Location: In person – Shoal Creek, Birmingham, Alabama area

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare assigned dining and service areas before opening and confirm that all necessary supplies are stocked and service-ready.
• Monitor inventory throughout the shift and communicate replenishment needs to management.
• Prepare approved garnishes, mixers, beverage accompaniments, and service supplies.
• Mix, prepare, and serve beverages according to approved recipes and Club service standards.
• Provide knowledgeable food and beverage service, including menu guidance, daily specials, and wine recommendations.
• Accurately take member and guest orders and communicate modifications, allergies, and special preparation requests to the culinary team.
• Deliver food and beverages efficiently while maintaining professional service etiquette and proper course timing.
• Maintain awareness of member and guest needs throughout the dining experience and provide attentive, anticipatory service.
• Clear and reset tables between courses while keeping dining areas and service stations organized and presentable.
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities according to established checklists.
• Clean and maintain service equipment and assigned work areas.
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate food and beverage items in accordance with food-safety standards.
• Follow all Club policies and applicable laws regarding the responsible service of alcoholic beverages.
• Accurately process beverage and dining transactions while following established revenue-control procedures.
• Address member or guest concerns professionally and promptly involve a supervisor or manager when appropriate.
• Attend pre-service meetings, lineups, and required training sessions.
• Complete required daily service and cookout documentation.
• Assist with cookouts, banquets, buffets, private events, and other Club functions as needed.
• Maintain required food-safety and alcoholic-beverage certifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management in support of Club operations.

Preferred Experience:
At least 1 year of restaurant, private-club, hotel, resort, or upscale hospitality experience is preferred.

The Club operates year-round, with particularly active seasons during the spring and fall when National Member visitation increases.

Dining Operations

Our Food & Beverage operation provides full-service, upscale-casual dining with an emphasis on personalized member service, consistency, and attention to detail.

Modified Restaurant Hours

January 1 – March 1

Main Dining Room

• Tuesday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–4:00
• Friday–Sunday: 7:00 AM until dark

Normal Operating Hours

March 2 – December 31

Main Dining Room

• Tuesday–Sunday: 7:00 AM–9:00 PM
• Full bar service available

Schedules may vary based on Club events, member activity, and seasonal business levels.
