Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our team. Duties Assists higher‑level mechanic in repairing boats, other watercraft, and related equipment, performing preparatory tasks such as sanding, base painting, mixing compounds, cleaning boat components and engine parts, and assisting in installation of rudders and centerboards. Performs routine preventive maintenance of watercraft and general handyman tasks around the marina and outdoor recreation facilities, including work above and below the waterline (requiring snorkeling equipment) and docks such as replacing bend rails. Maintains recreation area, facilities (including camping and picnic areas), and equipment by removing trash, policing restrooms, and emptying contents into dumpsters. Provides information concerning the use of equipment, facilities, and operation, ensuring only authorized patrons use recreation areas. Assists in maintaining routine reports and/or performs clerical duties as needed. Operates a cash register, receives payments, and makes change. Performs operational checks and maintenance of outdoor rental equipment, correcting simple malfunctions such as replacing mask/snorkel straps, propane lantern mantels, and sewing tent rips/tares. Operates assigned vehicles to transport supplies and materials to work sites. Ensures that safety procedures are followed. Performs any other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic knowledge of trade practices sufficient to complete simple tasks while assisting in boat repairs and related assignments using common hand tools such as scrapers, scrubbers, pressure washers, sewing machine, and power drill. Ability to provide continual care and attention to finishing work assignments involving multiple tasks or processes requiring application of safety rules and patron usage. Valid driver’s license. Minimum of one year experience in sailing and boat maintenance; scuba certification preferred. Prepared to work under the supervision of the Marina Manager and the technical direction of a senior mechanic. Capable of prolonged standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions; may be required to lift objects weighing over 50 pounds. Works both indoors and outdoors, including in water and exposure to paint vapors, fumes, scrapes, and cuts; may be required to handle hazardous materials.
