The State of Louisiana is seeking candidates for a position in Bastrop, LA. The salary range is $2,784.00 - $5,009.00 monthly. This position is classified under DOTD-Engineering & Operations, Division 5-Monroe.

The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. This position is located in DISTRICT 05 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to a Highway Foreman 1. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

Job duties include operating various types of heavy equipment, making minor repairs to equipment as needed, performing preventative maintenance, shoveling asphalt, digging footings for setting concrete forms, placing traffic control devices, delivering, loading and unloading materials and/or equipment, flagging traffic, operating power and/or hand tools, attending required training, obtaining/maintaining CDL, performing incidental repair and construction tasks, performing any other tasks assigned by supervisor or higher-level personnel, and training and/or assisting in training lower-level operators or laborers.

Position-specific details include appointment type (Probational and Promotional), career progression (MEO 1, MEO 2, or MEO 1/Heavy), and compensation (MEO-1 $16.06/hourly, MEO-2 $17.18/hourly, MEO-1/HEAVY $21.05/hourly).
