Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner

Performs basic and critical respiratory care services. Works well without supervision while maintaining oversight over others as delegated. Provides respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients. Administers respiratory care for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by the physician. Completes paperwork and electronic medical records for each patient. Documents care given and maintains records of treatment. Administers aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining charts. Draws arterial blood gases as per policy and physician order. Provides care to patients on ventilators. Assists in department record keeping and operation. Participates in training and supervision of new employees. Performs pulmonary function tests and drainage procedures. Provides additional patient care regarding cardiorespiratory disease. Contributes suggestions regarding patient treatment and pulmonary progress. Instructs patients and families on the nature of cardiorespiratory disease and its ramifications. Makes rounds to check respiratory therapy equipment. Ensures completion of initial ventilator bundle orders. Ensures compliance with VAP bundle for patients on mechanical ventilation. Identifies measurable and reasonable outcomes while using appropriate therapy interventions. Updates and communicates the diagnosis throughout the patient's stay based on changing condition. Assists with maintenance and processing of equipment used in providing respiratory therapy services. Serves as a knowledge resource related to respiratory care and the effectiveness of methods. Assists in stocking and re-ordering parts and equipment. Keeps equipment clean and ready for use. Assists physicians with bronchoscopies and special procedures. Assists with quality control and competencies. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience: Minimum of three years technical experience preferred License: Required Respiratory Care Practitioner license Certifications: - Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential required - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred - Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification preferred
