DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare for patient appointments by meticulously reviewing and updating records. Conduct initial medical screenings including vital checks, allergy verification, and medication reconciliation. Assist in the patient visit process, ensuring that patients are informed and comfortable while waiting for their appointments. Support providers during examinations, utilizing established safety protocols and facilitating communication between patients and staff as needed. Educate patients on proper use of medical equipment and assist with various clinical duties like administering vaccines and completing spirometry tests. Ensure cleanliness and stocking of exam rooms to meet infection control standards. Maintain clinical equipment and promptly report maintenance needs. Handle administrative tasks such as documenting patient interactions and processing referrals to specialists. Assist in both opening and closing office procedures, ensuring compliance with safety checks for equipment and supplies. Organize clinical areas to promote quality patient care and safety through effective teamwork. Engage in problem-solving alongside clinical staff to improve patient services. Be prepared to assist in emergency situations by understanding clinic protocols. Perform general clerical duties supporting patient services, including scheduling and patient registration. Participate in staff meetings and continuous improvement initiatives. Accept additional responsibilities as assigned to strengthen clinic operations. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong communication skills to effectively take medical histories and document patient information. Ability to interact diplomatically with a diverse patient population and staff. Basic computer skills and telephone etiquette. Willingness to extend hours for patient care and demonstrate adaptability in various job responsibilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Sensitivity to cultural differences and experience working with diverse populations. Understanding of Universal Precautions and professionalism at all times. Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Bilingual English/Spanish or other languages is highly desirable. Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and insurance, with flexibility to travel as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required. Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through a recognized agency. Valid CPR certification. Familiarity with the local community.
