Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health | Acute Unit

Job Summary Deliver nursing care on the Avera Behavioral Health Acute Unit, a short‑term inpatient unit focused on safety and stabilization. Nurses help patients actively participate in healthy living and expressive therapies, including art, music, and fitness therapy. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $32.50 - $48.50 per hour, dependent on experience. Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000 for nurses with 3+ years of experience. Student Loan Repayment Program: $167 monthly from Avera (up to $10,000). Benefits include day‑one PTO for eligible hires, up to 5% employer matching contribution for retirement, and career development through hands‑on training and mentorship. Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and counseling patients, families, and colleagues. Communicate the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team. Develop nursing care plans based on medical history, patient examination, and documentation of physical, psychological, and social factors. Teach patients and families about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Evaluate patient care against therapeutic standards, document outcomes, and modify the care plan as needed. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Maintain and troubleshoot patient care equipment, ensure supplies are stocked, and coordinate repairs. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state license upon hire. Preferred 1‑3 years of clinical experience. Ability to work the specified rotating shift pattern, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Good visual acuity, effective communication skill, and the ability to understand spoken instructions. Discretion and compliance with safety principles, laws, and regulations (CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, OSHA, etc.).
