Senior Technical General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Specialist Argo Group is an underwriter of specialty insurance products in the property and casualty market. Argo offers a full line of products and services designed to meet the unique coverage and claims-handling needs of businesses. We are looking for a highly capable Senior Technical General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Specialist to join our team and work from either our Los Angeles, CA or Omaha, NE offices. Alternatively, we can also fill this role in our offices in Albany, NY, Chicago, IL, New York City, NY, or Richmond, VA. The position reports to a manager based in Los Angeles and is focused on adjudicating commercial General Liability Bodily Injury claims to achieve superb results for our clients. This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on‑site at a designated company office during standard business hours. Responsibilities Adjudicate general liability bodily injury claims at the highest authority limits on assignments reflecting the highest degree of technical complexity. Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to find solutions to issues that are numerous and undefined. Report to senior management and underwriters, investigating claims promptly and thoroughly. Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage. Interview all involved parties and manage claims in litigation. Maintain a complete diary and ensure that cases move to the best financial outcome and timely resolution. Set claim reserves appropriately. Identify, assign and coordinate expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions that result in the best financial outcome. Negotiate settlements. Process mail and prioritize workload. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Qualifications / Experience Required Good business acumen and an understanding of how an insurance company works. Deep knowledge of General Liability Bodily Injury claims and a minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating such claims with exposure of $100,000 or more. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; alternatively, two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience can substitute for a degree. Ability to obtain or already hold a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first‑party claims within 90 days of hire. Work independently and exercise sound judgment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. Strong claim negotiation skills and a proactive, pragmatic approach to negotiation. Strong customer focus and effective time‑management skills. Ability to articulate the financial value of work at multiple levels of the client organization. Demonstrated discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance. Commitment to continued professional development through continuing education and self‑development opportunities. Compensation and Benefits The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. Albany and Chicago – $151,000 – $181,250 Los Angeles and New York City – $165,000 – $198,000 Benefits We offer competitive compensation, performance-based incentives, and a comprehensive benefits program that includes health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
