Associate Extension Agent, Agriculture & Natural Resources – Accomack County This position is focused on providing leadership in developing and evaluating educational programs for agriculture and natural resources in Accomack County, Virginia. Develop new markets and educate producers on market opportunities. Assist producers in collaborative marketing efforts and value-added product development. Promote specialized product opportunities such as aquaculture, viticulture, and small fruit. Collaborate on agritourism enterprises, sustainable agriculture and related events. Develop and expand web-based marketing initiatives. Provide technical assistance to producer organizations and pursue grant applications. Collaborate with county, state, and federal agencies to support agricultural producers. Work closely with County Economic Development, Extension Leadership Council, and stakeholders to respond to evolving needs. Deliver research-based information through multiple delivery methods to diverse audiences. Maintain proficiency in subject matter through professional training and keep abreast of local needs via farm visits. Participate in emergency preparedness and response for the state. Travel as needed to build partnerships and provide in-person leadership. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a relevant discipline. Master’s degree preferred; required within six years for promotion to Extension Agent. Experience recruiting, selecting, training, and managing volunteers. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, facilitate, teach, and evaluate educational programs. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to unstructured environments. Team-oriented mindset, with capability for independent work. Desire to help clients succeed. Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 annually. Hours vary. Overtime not applicable. Regular appointment. Close date: June 16, 2026. Benefits: Driver’s license check and criminal conviction check required.
