Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic Interventional Radiology team in Columbia, Missouri. The nurse will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population undergoing a wide range of invasive and non-invasive procedures.

Key responsibilities include patient assessment, procedural sedation, monitoring, and post-procedure care for complex interventions such as neurovascular procedures for stroke, various biopsies, line placements, and advanced imaging studies. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating critical thinking, strong communication, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe patient assessments, identifying and responding to potential complications.
• Implement and adhere to strict radiation safety protocols during procedures.
• Educate patients and family members on procedures, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding.
• Facilitate effective communication with radiologists and the interdisciplinary team regarding patient needs and status.
• Exercise critical decision-making and act decisively in emergent or critical situations.
• Adapt quickly to new environments and manage multiple responsibilities across different departments.
• Provide high-quality patient care, proactively identifying and solving problems to optimize outcomes.
• Assist with and monitor patients during interventional radiology and CT procedures requiring sedation.
• Circulate for various interventional procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri.
• Proficiency in IV Insertion, PICC/Central Line Management, Vascular Device Access/Care.
• Competency in Tele Interpretation and Cardioversion/Defibrillation.
• Experience with Procedural Sedation.
• Ability to Circulate for procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent neuro nursing experience.
• Experience with CVP (Central Venous Pressure) monitoring.
• Proficiency in Sheath Removal.

Skills & Competencies

• Clinical Skills: General patient assessment, complication recognition, radiation safety, procedural sedation, IV insertion, PICC/Central line management, vascular device access/care, tele interpretation, cardioversion/defibrillation, circulating.
• Procedural Experience: Port Placements/Removals, Tunneled & Non-Tunneled Line Placements/Removals, CT Biopsies (Liver, Lung, Deep Bone, Bone Marrow, Renal, Lymph Node), Chest Tube Placements, CT Guided Drain Placements, IVC Filter Placements/Removals, Nephrostomy Tubes, Neurovascular Intervention for Stroke, Sedation for MRIs, Port Access/Deaccess, MRI Defibrillator/Cardiac Device Monitoring, Chemo embolizations, Uterine Artery Embolizations.
• Medication Management: Familiarity with Versed, Fentanyl, Cefazolin, Levaquin, Lidocaine, Nitroglycerin Spray. (Note: Does not manage Propofol drips or pressors).
• Equipment Proficiency: Computer, ISTAT, ACT Machine, Penumbra, IV Pump, Vital Sign Machine.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, ability to manage multiple priorities, teamwork.
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 for procedural sedation.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: AM
• Shift Duration: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Start Date: September 21, 2026.
• Call Requirements: Rotating call schedule, Monday-Friday from 16:30 to 07:30, and Saturday-Sunday from 07:00 to 07:00. Call includes holidays and covers interventional radiology and CT procedures only.
• Weekend Rotation: Included in the rotating call schedule.
