Job Title: RN - PICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 22 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of high acuity Pediatric ICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Experience with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring device), Belmont Rapid Infuser - Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration - Management of invasive lines (ART lines/CVP) - Aseptic and sterile techniques - Basic dressing changes - Ventilator and trach management - HOFV management - Oral/nasal suctioning - G-tube/j-tube management - Feeding tubes - Chest tubes - Epidurals - PCAs - Sedation and analgesic drip management - Foley insertion and management - Alaris & Medfusion pump management - Bedside procedures with providers - Discharge skills - CRRT experience - Ability/competency to float to Pediatric CVICU discussed during interview Description: The role is for a registered nurse specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care. The unit has an average patient census of 21-23, with 24 beds available. The position involves caring for high acuity patients, including those with respiratory issues, trauma, DKA, seizures, and complex medical conditions. Patient ratios vary based on acuity, with 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2 configurations. The department is supported by a team that includes health care techs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapy, all available 24/7. The unit features centralized and bedside telemetry monitoring. Floating to pediatric CVICU, NICU, neonatal PCU, and general pediatric units may be required as needed. Weekend rotation is every other weekend with no on-call requirements. Holiday work may be necessary as required. Manager approval is needed for time-off requests. The schedule cycle operates every 6 weeks.
