Benefits may vary by bargaining agreement and employment status. Responsibilities Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results. Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and either correct the problem or immediately notify supervisor, Director, or Medical Director. Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology. Perform and document routine maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed) on instruments and equipment. Review accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting. Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics. Ensure proficiency testing samples are processed identically to patient samples and report results to the appropriate agencies; collaboration with other laboratories is prohibited until results are reported. Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all age groups from newborns to geriatrics. Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures. Adhere to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources. Serve as Lead Technician in the absence of a supervisor, assuming responsibility for the section or department during the shift. Perform duties related to point‑of‑care testing (POCT) as assigned. Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager or director. Qualifications Minimum one‑year work experience performing high‑complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology, or completion of an approved internship training program. Comprehensive training or work experience covering all areas of the clinical laboratory. Bachelor's degree in biological science, chemistry, physics, biological science, medical laboratory technology, or equivalent from an accredited institution. Other educational requirements as specified in California Code of Registration, Title 17, Section 1032, Clinical Laboratory Scientist (generalist). Current and valid California State license. Pay Transparency Competitive compensation; the current range for this role is $47.79. Benefits may vary based on bargaining agreement and employment status. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hiring and will depend on skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
