Rising Scholars Early Learning Academy seeks a dependable Driver to transport elementary and middle school scholars safely to and from school. This role requires careful driving, reliable attendance, active attention to every child, and consistent completion of vehicle checks and transportation records.

Schedule: Monday–Friday; morning and afternoon school transportation runs. Exact hours discussed during hiring.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license appropriate to the assigned vehicle and service, an acceptable driving record, and approval under RS vehicle and insurance requirements. Any required license endorsements or driver qualifications must be verified before assignment.
• Demonstrated ability to operate the assigned vehicle safely, follow approved routes, and communicate calmly with children, families, and staff.
• Reliable availability for both assigned morning and afternoon runs; ability to complete passenger checks, inspections, and records accurately.
• Meet all applicable Pennsylvania background-clearance, health documentation, training, and ongoing professional-development requirements before performing duties that require them.
• Current pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain required certification before performing duties that require it.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience driving a passenger van or transporting children in a school or child care setting.
• Familiarity with Norristown-area school routes, safe child loading and unloading, and passenger accountability.

What You Will Do:

• Inspect the van before every morning and afternoon departure; check tires, mirrors, windows, lights, and visible hazards. Report concerns and do not operate an unsafe vehicle.
• Confirm scheduled riders and school locations; complete headcounts before departure, after loading or unloading, and at the destination.
• Ensure each child is seated and properly restrained before moving. Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.
• Follow approved routes and make no unapproved stops. Record necessary detours caused by road closures or construction.
• Support supervised single-file movement, safe parking-lot transitions, and staff-controlled van doors.
• Record departure and return mileage. Physically check every row and seat after each run to confirm no child remains.
• Remove trash, check fuel, and notify administration when the tank reaches one-quarter full. Report damage, warning lights, delays, or incidents promptly.
• Coordinate attendance and safe handoffs with program staff and school personnel; maintain confidentiality and follow RS emergency procedures.

What Success Looks Like:

You arrive on time, account for every scholar, complete each inspection and log, and report concerns before they affect a route. You keep your attention on safe driving and communicate delays promptly.
