Job Description Phlebotomist III Site Lead – Canton, GA – Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pay range: $24.04 + per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Represents the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients. The PSR III – Site Lead draws quality blood samples, prepares specimens for laboratory testing, and follows established procedures. The role includes direct patient contact, creating a trusting environment, explaining procedures, and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately. The Site Lead directs daily activity at a Patient Service Center (PSC), In‑Office Phlebotomy (IOP), and may cover multiple locations. Role Summary Represents the face of Quest Diagnostics to patients who come for health testing or life‑defining decisions. The PSR III – Site Lead draws quality blood samples from patients, prepares specimens for laboratory testing, and instructs patients. The Site Lead directs daily activity at a PSC or IOP, leads more than one PSR on site, and may cover multiple locations. They act as coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees, and provide effective onboarding services. The Site Lead collaborates with multiple functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics for complex test orders and handles multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting. Responsibilities Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams. Administer oral solutions according to established training. Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or the directory of services. Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration, test order entry, and managing standing orders. Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information. Process specimens, including labeling, centrifugation, splitting, and freezing as required by the test order. Perform departmental‑related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones when needed. Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures, ensuring all staff follow instructions. Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post‑venipuncture to confirm tube labels. Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data. Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance and temperature logs. Complete training courses and keep up‑to‑date with the latest phlebotomy techniques. Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off‑site or off normal shift. Participate on special projects and teams. Stay up‑to‑date on company communications and assist with the distribution of technical information. Perform Point of Care (POC) testing at required sites and complete training/competency evaluations per SOP. Act as a mentor and resource for new employees, assisting with transition into the PSC work environment. Assist with periodic inventory counts and report shortages or problems to group leader or supervisor. Assist with the preparation of schedules for the assigned workgroup or PSCs. Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer issues, document problems, and report critical issues. Ensure staff follows all safety precautions by wearing a clean lab coat, gloves and face shield when required. Assist supervisors with the implementation of SOPs and communication to the workgroup in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines. Ensure facilities are neat, clean and in good repair, and advise Group Leader or Supervisor of required repairs and maintenance. Act as a coach, mentor, instructor and resource advisor for new employees, and serve as point of contact to staff on‑site. Provide effective onboarding services to new clients. Partner with Supervisor and Group Lead to assist the transition process for new PSCs and IOPs. Must be able to step in for a PSR II and lead one or more PSR on site. Qualifications Required Work Experience Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Keyboard/data entry experience. Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call, and overtime. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable. Travel and flexible hours required to work multiple locations and cover Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long‑Term Care/In‑Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice. Preferred Work Experience Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred. Minimum 3 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) / In‑Office (IOP) environment preferred. Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred. Physical And Mental Requirements Lift light to moderately heavy objects, with specific weight ranges provided. Lift and carry objects up to 15 pounds frequently, 16–25 pounds occasionally, 26–40 pounds seldom, and no objects exceeding 41 pounds without assistance. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination. Must perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently throughout the day. Must travel. Must use phone and PC extensively. Must have fine dexterity and steadiness with hands. Must be able to talk, walk, balance, bend/kneel, push/pull, reach, and twist.
