Job Title: CDL Driver – 1st Shift Job Description

This role involves operating manual and automatic CDL Class A vehicles to safely transport compressed gas cylinders, dry ice containers, and related products to local customers. You will manage delivery documentation, ensure compliance with safety and DOT guidelines, and provide reliable, courteous service while working a consistent first-shift schedule and returning home daily.

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL Class A vehicles with both manual and automatic transmissions to complete daily delivery routes.

• Drive local routes within the region, including areas such as Beloit and Milwaukee, while adhering to all traffic, DOT, and company safety regulations.

• Safely load compressed gas cylinders, dry ice containers, and other products onto vehicles using proper material handling techniques.

• Prepare accurate truck load manifests and delivery documentation before departing for each route.

• Organize customer paperwork, complete delivery reports, and ensure all records are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.

• Unload and deliver compressed gas cylinders and dry ice containers at customer locations, ensuring correct products and quantities are delivered.

• Pick up empty cylinders and containers from customer sites and secure them properly for return transport.

• Listen to customer concerns or issues during deliveries and communicate those issues promptly to the appropriate internal personnel.

• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of assigned vehicles, including performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

• Complete vehicle inspection logs and report any maintenance or safety issues immediately.

• Follow all load safety procedures, including proper securing of cargo and adherence to weight and balance guidelines.

• Handle general labor and material handling tasks as needed to support safe and efficient operations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Lift and move products weighing up to 100 pounds safely and consistently throughout the workday.

Essential Skills

• Valid CDL Class A license.

• Hazmat endorsement required.

• Airbrake endorsement required.

• 1–2+ years of CDL Class A driving experience with manual transmission.

• Proficiency driving both manual and automatic transmission commercial vehicles.

• Experience with materials handling and general labor in a transportation or distribution environment.

• Ability to safely lift and move up to 100 pounds.

• Ability to prepare and manage delivery paperwork, including manifests and delivery reports, with strong attention to detail.

• Capability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete inspection logs accurately.

• Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to load safety requirements and DOT guidelines.

• Effective communication skills to interact with customers and internal team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience delivering compressed gas cylinders, dry ice, or similar products is beneficial.

• Comfort working early morning start times and 8–10+ hour shifts.

• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build positive relationships on delivery routes.

• Ability to work some weekend hours and occasional half days as needed.

• Reliability and punctuality in meeting scheduled route start times.

• Organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries, paperwork, and returns efficiently.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift role with a consistent early-morning schedule. Typical workdays run approximately 8–10+ hours. Standard start times are 4:00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, with the workday ending when the assigned route is complete. The work involves local driving only, so you return home each day. The environment includes frequent loading and unloading of compressed gas cylinders and dry ice containers, regular material handling, and general labor tasks. You will work both inside and outside at customer locations and in and around trucks and loading areas. Some weekend work and occasional half days may be required. The role requires adherence to all safety procedures and the use of appropriate protective equipment as needed for handling compressed gases and dry ice.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $62400.00/yr.
