Lead Line Cook / Kitchen Manager

Sam's Graces Cafe, a 55-seat Breakfast and Lunch Cafe, in the quaint resort town of Petoskey, Michigan, is seeking motivated, driven candidates who possess a passion for meticulously-prepared, scratch cuisine. This position requires restaurant cooking experience in a fast-paced, high-volume atmosphere. Seeking candidates with a proven record of longevity and success at previous, similar establishments. Ideal candidates must be able to gracefully withstand the daily vigors of an extremely busy, fast-turnover kitchen that strive for excellence in every dish. Responsibilites include: Preping and stocking cook line Daily inventory Cooking and expediting menu items as ordered by guests for breakfast, lunch, pizza service and, with the right candidates, eventually, Happy Hour and Dinner service Ensuring that all food stock gets rotated properly Daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and storage areas Training of incoming employees Assisting dishwashers and prep cooks when needed Cleaning and closing the kitchen each day Adhering to company policies and guidelines without wavering Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualities: Punctual Reliable Trustworthy Able to learn and adapt quickly Genuinely curious and excited to learn new recipes and cooking techniques Independent thinker and intuitively and initiatively driven Understands the cost of high quality products and is careful about unnecessary waste Is highly considerate and respectful of other coworkers Understands the importance of working as a team and is willing to help other team members wherever needed Able to follow specific recipes, procedures and instructions Able to accept constructive criticism and grow and improve from it Has impeccably clean and sanitary habits Is able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, high-pressure environment while keeping a clean, sanitary, organized, safe work area at all times as well as a level head Must have breakfast cookery experience, which includes successfully flipping eggs in a pan and the ability to multi-task cooking many different items at one time Possesses fine dining experience Sam's Graces Cafe is a 100% tobacco-free and cell-phone free working workplace without exception.
